If I Only Knew Then…

Why Fit Matters More Than Brand Recognition When Buying a Franchise

We can all relate to those moments when we look back and think,
“If I only knew then what I know now.”

For me, I bought into a franchise that is truly a great franchise, however, it wasn’t the best fit for me.

On paper, it made sense. I had a strong corporate background, real business experience, and the confidence that I was making a smart decision. I became a multi unit owner because the model was proven and the brand was strong.

What I didn’t fully understand then was how critical fit really is.

Fit between the business model and how you’re wired to lead.
Fit between your goals and the day to day realities.
Fit between what looks good in a presentation and what actually sustains you long term.

If I had someone like me guiding my research, slowing me down, and helping me think through alignment instead of assumptions, I would have made a different choice.

That experience changed how I see franchising and ownership altogether. It’s also what led me to the work I do today.

Now, when professionals come to me exploring business ownership, my role is not to sell them on franchising or push them toward a brand. My role is to help them think clearly before making a six figure decision that affects their finances, family, and future.

I care far more about long term outcomes than fast placements, because trust matters more than speed in decisions like these.

If you’re approaching franchising thoughtfully and want a guide who’s been on both sides of the table, this is exactly the kind of conversation I have with clients.
